DESCRIPTION

This program is designed for students who are dedicated to acquiring and developing their German language skills. This program requires you to take a language course that focus on listening comprehension, conversation, and grammar. In addition, you will further develop your language skills and understanding of the German culture through your selected Culture Course/Lecture of your choice. Five hours per week of lectures, seminars and field trips with cultural/social/political topics will be held in the afternoon, including the culture course lecture once a week for 2 hours. Cultural activities and excursions as part of the course will be offered various times of afternoon, evening and weekends. The academic lessons are held in German with some excursions or lectures in English.

(HU Course Description): German Culture: Summer In Berlin

Learning a language goes hand in hand with understanding specific cultural frameworks. Berlin as Germany?s (multi-)cultural centre and urban metropolis welcomes a wide variety of cultures and lifestyles. Participating in this course enables you to improve your German skills and conceive German society. Apart from your daily language course, you will also have the opportunity to learn more about Berlin and Germany in this weekly, two-hour long lecture that deals with cultural and societal topics (e.g. History, Literature, Film). Moreover, additional cultural and social activities outside the classroom setting will be organized; that traditionally includes a guided tour through the building of the German Bundestag as well as visits to a theaters and museums.
